SCOTT SHANNON’s "True Oldies Channel" has found its way to BOISE, as IMPACT RADIO’s KAYN changes calls to become KQLZ "True Oldies 100.7 -- IDAHO’s Oldies Station."
KQLZ will still have local "BIG JACK & BRYAN" in mornings how and a local afternoon show, with SHANNON's Oldies programming in all other dayparts and on the weekend. "Last year, we brought the Oldies format back to BOISE on 100.7 and saw solid growth in the FALL book," Impact Radio GM RANDY HYATT noted. "However, we felt the ‘True Oldies Channel’ and the terrific product that SCOTT SHANNON and his team at ABC Radio Networks deliver, will brand us better in this highly competitive market."
RADIOCRUNCH consultant ANTHONY ACAMPORA, who is working with IMPACT’s BOISE cluster added, "We were looking to better define our Oldies product here in BOISE and realized that SCOTT’s format was terrific to compliment what we had begun building. When we were working to find call letters, I saw Oldies stations with KKLZ and KOLZ and I said, 'How about KQLZ?' Radio historians may recall that KQLZ were the calls that were used for SHANNON’s 'PIRATE RADIO' in LOS ANGELES from 1989-1991."
