ESPN RADIO's MIKE GOLIC paid off his losing bet to co-host MIKE GREENBERG on the NCAA men's basketball tournament by competing -- and losing -- in a three-minute chicken wing eating contest this morning (5/1). GOLIC lost the "Feast on the First" to three professional eaters, TIM "EATER X" JANUS, "CRAZY LEGS" CONTI, and "PRETTY BOY" PETE DAVEKOS, with GOLIC downing just 15 wings in three minutes compared to "EATER X"'s 31 wings.
GREENBERG said, "I was very proud of GOLIC. He's been training all his life and I thought he rose -- or sunk -- to the occasion, depending on your perspective."
GOLIC added, "I felt good ‘til I 'chipmunked' (stuffed his mouth with unchewed food until his cheeks bulged) at the end, and had to eat everything."
Producer SCOTT SHAPIRO said, "The 'Feast on the First' was a major success. MIKE AND MIKE both bought into the concept of the eat-off and made the event bigger than life through passionate promotion. Watching GOLIC stuff wings into his mouth is a memory I will have with me for the rest of my life. Every second that went into the planning of this competitive eat-off was well worth it."
