Clear Channel Picks Seven Finalists In New Ratings Service RFP

CLEAR CHANNEL has announced seven finalists in its Request for Proposals for a new electronic radio ratings system. The seven- ARBITRON, INTEGRATED MEDIA MANAGEMENT, MEDIA AUDIT/IPSOS, MEDIAMARK RESEARCH, PALADIN ADSOLUTIONS, RADIOSTAT, and SIMMONS- were chosen from a field of 34 submissions.
"As an industry, we are one step closer to more accurately and credibly measuring radio's true performance and value to advertisers," said CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO CEO JOHN HOGAN in a statement. "Our goal is to move quickly to evaluate and determine next steps in identifying a measurement system that best serves everyone’s needs."
CLEAR CHANNEL's evaluation team will consider the applications over the next 45 days with MARCH 3 as the target for selection of the winner, followed by a SPRING test. On the evaluation team are representatives from ABC, BONNEVILLE, CBS, CLEAR CHANNEL, COX, EMMIS, ENTERCOM, GREATER MEDIA, JOURNAL, REGENT, and SUSQUEHANNA, as well as from CIA MEDIA EDGE, INITIATIVE, MEDIACOM, MPG, and FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
