Raleigh: Shared Leadership In Triangle

A variety of stations in RALEIGH-DURHAM took the demo honors this WINTER. RADIO ONE Urban AC WFXC grabbed the #1 position among adults 25-54. CURTIS Country WQDR was the 18-49 champ, while CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WDCG (G105) and RADIO ONE Urban WQOK shared the 18-34 trophy.

25-54: WFXC rebounded from an off FALL book to take the #1 position 25-54. They inched ahead of WQDR, which slipped to 2nd. G105 moved from 6th to 3rd, with RADIO ONE Gospel WNNL rose from 5th to 4th. CAPITOL AC WRAL dipped from 2nd to 5th, with WQOK slid from a tie in the FALL with WRAL all the way down to 6th place. CURTIS Rock WBBB was 7th, and Regional Mexican sister WYMY moved up to 8th. CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Hits WRVA slid from 7th to 9th, with CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC WKSL ranked 10th.

CURTIS News/Talk WPTF slid from 10th to 11th. CLEAR CHANNEL Country WRDU was 12th, with CURTIS Classic Hits WWMY inching up to 13th. PRIETO Regional Mexican WETC came in 14th, with NC Sportsnet Sports WRBZ-AM 15th -- beating CAPITOL rival WCMC, which landed 16th.

18-49: WQDR regained the top spot 18-49, just ahead of G105, which moved from 4th to 2nd. FALL's champ WQOK moved from 1st to 3rd, while sister WFXC rose from 6th to 4th. WYMY held in 5th place. WBBB inched up from 7th to 6th. WRAL slid from 3rd to 7th. WNNL held in 8th, with WKSL moving from 12th to 9th. WRVA rounded out the top 10.

WRDU slid out of the top 10 and now ranks #11. WPTF held in 12th. WETC remained in 13th, with WWMY moving from 16th to 14th. WRBZ took 15th (ahead of WCMC's 16th).

18-34: G105 and WQOK ties for 1st place, as G105 rose from 2nd place. WYMY stayed in 3rd place, ahead of WQDR and WBBB, which rounded out the top 5.

Sacramento: CBS, ENTERCOM, CLEAR CHANNEL Spread Out Wins

CBS and ENTERCOM continued to be the cluster leaders in CALIFORNIA's capital city (four and three top-10 25-54 stations, respectively). However, CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk KFBK was the leader among adults 25-54, while CBS took the lead in the hotly contested Rhythmic battle. Details follow:

25-54: KFBK moved from 4th to 1st this book -- and in an election year, one would expect KFBK to keep that momentum for most of 2008. ENTERCOM Active Rock KRXQ rose from 3rd to 2nd. A big move for CBS AC KYMX, which vaulted following the flip of CLEAR CHANNEL rival KGBY to Hot AC. KYMX moved from 7th to 3rd 25-54. CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC KHYL surged from 8th to 4th, where it tied CBS Sports KHTK. ENTERCOM Classic Rock KSEG, which was the #1 station 25-54 in the FALL, slid all the way to 6th place. ENTERCOM Top 40 KDND moved from 15th all the way to 7th. CBS Country KNCI moved from 10th to 8th, as they more than doubled the shares of ENTRAVISION rival KNTY. A tie 25-54 between Rhythmic with CBS's KSFM and ENTRAVISION's KBMB in 9th. 

CBS Adult Hits KQJK (JACK-FM) fell from 2nd in the FALL all the way down to 11th this WINTER. ENTERCOM Smooth Jazz KSSJ moved from 8th to 12th. CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk KSTE slid from 5th to 13th. The new Hot AC format for KGBY saw the station drop from 6th in the FALL (however ,they got a holiday music boost). KGBY's share were in line with what they had the previous two books as AC (prior to the holidays). CBS Hot AC KZZO dipped from 12th to 15th. ENTRAVISION Regional Mexican KRCX ranked 16th, tying ENTERCOM Alternative KWOD and BUSTOS Regional Mexican KTTA. KNTY and ENTRAVISION Spanish Contemporary KXSE tied for 19th.

18-49: KSFM surged back to take the top position, moving past format rival KBMB for the fifth time in six books. KBMB remained a solid #2, where they tied with KRXQ. ENTERCOM Top 40 KDND rose from 6th to 4th -- as youth-based formats took the top 4 18-49 positions in SAC-TOWN. KHYL broke into the top 5 as they rose from 8th. KYMX vaulted from 14th to 6th. KFBK held in 7th. KHTK surged from 16th to 8th. KQJK slid from 5th to 9th, with KNCI moving from 12th to 10th.

KWOD remained 11th, tying KZZO, which dropped from 8th. KSEG plummeted from 4th to 13th. KRCX held in 14th place, with KGBY dipping from 12th to 15th, ahead of KSTE, which slipped from 8th to 16th. KNTY, KTTA, and KXSE tied for 17th. KSSJ rounded out the top 20.

18-34: KSFM moved past KBMB here to take the 18-34 trophy ... although by only three-tenths of a share. KDND rose from 4th to 3rd. FALL champ KRXQ dipped to 4th. KHYL surged from 11th to 5th, as KWOD held in 6th. KRCX was 7th, KNCI 8th, KZZO 9th and KXSE 10th.

San Antonio: Cox Lands Three Of Top Four 25-54; KPWT Gains On KBBT

A stellar upper demo book for COX as they landed three of the top-four stations 25-54 this book. Meanwhile, COX Rhythmic KPWT found itself up after landing a new morning show (BIG BOY's NEIGHBORHOOD) and a new PD (ERIC SEAN).

25-54: COX Active Rock KISS continued to be the market leader, edging out CLEAR CHANNEL Country KAJA, which rose from 3rd. COX Classic Hits KONO slipped from 2nd to 3rd, while sister Country KCYY leapt from 5th to 4th, giving COX three of the top-four 25-54. Tied for 5th are BORDER MEDIA PARTNERS KJXK and LOTUS Classic Rock KZEP.

As announced late last week, KZEP is soon to become a CLEAR CHANNEL property, in a swap for KWID/LAS VEGAS and KBKO/BAKERSFIELD. Despite what you may have been speculated elsewhere, it would be surprising if CLEAR CHANNEL changed KZEP's format to Regional Mexican when it is top 5 25-54 and will be cluster's second-highest-rated station.

BORDER MEDIA PARTNER Rhythmic AC KTFM rose from 14th to 7th, although the results may have been prior to a format adjustment made in MARCH. UNIVISION Regional Mexican KROM held in 8th place, tying CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk WOAI. CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KXXM moved back into the top 10 (rising from 12th).

UNIVISION Rhythmic slid from 9th to 11th, tying CLEAR CHANNEL AC KQXT, which fell all the way from 3rd (post-holiday slide). UNIVISION Tejano KXTN ranked 13th. UNIVISION Spanish Contemporary KGSX was 14th, placing it ahead of COX Hot AC KSMG, which slipped from 13th to 14th. COX Rhythmic KPWT rose from 20th to 16th.

18-49: The top 5 remained exactly the same as the last book (in descending order): KISS, KBBT, KCYY, KAJA and KXXM. KZEP moved from 7th to 6th, switching places with KJXK. KROM slid from a tie at 7th down to 8th. COX Rhythmic KPWT vaulted from 14th to 9th with its highest 18-49 shares under the new format. KTFM rose from 16th all the way to 10th.

KONO dipped from 9th to 11th, with WOAI tied for 12th. KSMG held in 13th. UNIVISION Spanish Contemporary KGSX ranked 14th (the former RECUERDO), tying KQXT.

18-34: KISS took over ownership of the 18-34 cell, as KBBT slid to 2nd. KXXM moved from 4th to 3rd with a pretty solid share gain. KAJA surged from 7th to 4th, with KCYY 5th. KPWT held in 6th but saw a nice share increase. KROM slipped from 3rd to 7th. KTFM vaulted from 18th to 8th. KZEP and KSMG rounded out the top 10.

St. Louis: KSHE Holds Upper Demos; KSLZ Steals 18-34 Crown

EMMIS Rock KSHE took the top spot once again among adults 18-49 and 25-54, but sister Alternative KPNT lost the top spot 18-34 to CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KSLZ. Here's what happened this WINTER in the GATEWAY CITY.

25-54: KSHE continued to hold the top spot. CBS AC KEZK remained in 2nd, with BONNEVILLE Adult Hits WARH (THE ARCH) rose from 4th to 3rd. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC KMJM and CBS Hot AC KYKY (Y98) tied for 4th (with Y98 rising from 7th). EMMIS Classic Rock KIHT held in 6th. CBS News/Talk KMOX rose from 10th to 7th. BONNEVILLE Country WIL-F slid from 3rd to 8th. EMMIS Talk KFTK sat in 9th place, and CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Hits soared from 13th to 10th, where they tied RADIO ONE Urban AC WFUN.

CLEAR CHANNEL Country KSD dipped from 8th to 12th (in what appears to be an off book). KSLZ dipped from 12th to 13th in rank, but increased share. KPNT held in 14th, but posted a nice share gain, tied with CH HOLDINGS News/Talk KTRS and BONNEVILLE Hot AC WMVN (which has moved away from Rhythmic AC).

18-49: KSHE won here -- and by a pretty healthy margin. KSLZ rose from 5th to 2nd and KYKY from 8th to 3rd. WARH dipped from 2nd to 4th. KMJM held in 5th place. KEZK dropped from 3rd to 6th. KPNT held in 7th place. WIL dropped from 3rd to 8th in 18-49 (just as it did 25-54). WHHL moved from 12th to 9th. KATZ-FM and KSD-FM tied for 10th.

KIHT dropped from 8th to 12th, with WFUN and WMVN now tied for 13th. KFTK rounded out the top 15. Not inside the top 15 was the legendary KMOX, which ranked 16th -- although they did score its highest 18-49 share since FALL 2006.

18-34: KSLZ regained the top spot 18-34 for the first time since FALL 2006 -- and won by a landslide over KPNT and KATZ, which were only 0.1 apart for 2nd and 3rd, respectively. KYKY vaulted from 13th to 5th. KSHE held in sixth. WIL-F slid from 5th to 7th, with KEZK and WARH tied for 8th. KMJM and KSD tied for 10th.
