Maybe WFNY is short for "finally," as INFINITY's soon-to-be Talk WXRK (92.3 FREE FM)/NEW YORK, hours after the final live HOWARD STERN broadcast on the station, announces what ALL ACCESS has been tipping for several weeks, the addition of sister KIFR (106.9 FREE FM)/SAN FRANCISCO temporary morning show JV AND ELVIS (aka THE DOGHOUSE) for 10a-2p. The station has also confirmed that the station will change its call letters to WFNY-FM on JANUARY 1; INFINITY filed for the new calls in NOVEMBER.
And the station's "FREE ROCK WEEKENDS" (FRIDAY 11p-MONDAY 6a) will feature former midday host JULIE SLATER and veteran NEW YORK jocks DAN NEER and HARRIS ALLAN. Surviving the format flip is the station's Alternative Internet stream, K-ROCK2.
