A bill introduced by Rep. Dr. MICHAEL BURGESS (R-TX) to allow each branch of the military to build one refinery each on military property is being credited to a suggestion by CUMULUS Talk KLIF-A/DALLAS host JON-DAVID WELLS. H.R. 6125, "The Joint Defense Energy Production Act of 2008," was "wholly lifted from a conversation we had when I was on your show a month ago," BURGESS told WELLS. "Your thought of having each branch of the military have its own ability to produce its own refined product so it doesn’t compete with the needs of Mr. & Mrs. AMERICA who are paying higher and higher prices, is a good concept. The J-D Act, I call it."
WELLS added that the act "proves once again that Local Talk Radio matters. This solution didn’t come from a national talk show host with a network cable show. It came from a regular guy on the radio asking for real solutions from his neighbors."
