ICBC Urban WBLS/NEW YORK and syndicated afternooner WENDY WILLIAMS' husband plotted to kill a EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic WQHT (HOT 97)/NEW YORK rival deejay for bad-mouthing his wife on the air, an explosive federal lawsuit charges. THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports KEVIN HUNTER, who is married to WILLIAMS, sought out a male WBLS employee for help in finding a hit man to rub out HOT 97 personality TARSHA JONES, according to the lawsuit filed WEDNESDAY.
HUNTER "was apparently angry over some comments that MISS JONES made about his wife on the air," the lawsuit filed in MANHATTAN Federal Court claims.
The blistering allegations are included in a federal sexual-harassment lawsuit filed WEDNESDAY against WILLIAMS by NICOLE SPENCE, who claims the disc jockey's husband dominated her workplace, physically abused her and repeatedly propositioned an employee, reports NEWSDAY.
News about the lawsuit broke in MARCH (NET NEWS 3/25), with claims brought by SPENCE, also naming KEVIN HUNTER and INNER CITY BROADCAST CORP. WILLIAMS and HUNTER have denied the allegations.
SPENCE, who sometimes appeared on the air with WILLIMAS, claims she felt unsafe at the office after seeing HUNTER physically and verbally abuse his wife. In one instance, the lawsuit claims, he stormed into an office meeting, "pinning (his wife) against the wall with his hand around her neck, choking her while repeatedly pounding his fist into the wall directly by her head." The attack, SPENCE claims, was apparently prompted by WILLIAMS' failure to quit smoking.
When SPENCE's claims first surfaced, WILLIAMS told THE NEW YORK POST "her allegations are totally false." Her husband said the claims were "so far from the truth. It's insane."
