Just in time for CHRISTMAS, CUMULUS Rocker WRKI (I95)/DANBURY wrapped up it's "Guy In The Sky" campaign. I-95 morning host NEIL HEDLEY lived on a billboard for 19 days to raise money for the UNITED WAY and the agencied that it serves. While NEIL lived in on the billboard in downtown DANBURY, volunteers staffed an RV located at the bottom of the hill 24 hours a day to take donations from listeners.
In addition, several items were auctioned off, including a day with the DANBURY TRASHERS HOCKEY CLUB, an autographed NEW YORK RANGERS hockey stick, a lithograph signed by NEW YORK YANKEES Manager, JOE TORRE, and several pieces of artist signed artwork.
Four dinners on the billboard were also auctioned off. The meals were prepared tableside by a local chef, and were attended by the winning bidder, NEIL, his morning show partner, ETHAN CAREY, and a rotating list of celebrities, including DANBURY Mayor MARK BOUGHTON, NEW MILFORD, CT Mayor PATRICIA MURPHY, and former BLUE OYSTER CULT bass player, JOE BOUCHARD. Lunch with Governor JODI RELL at the State Capitol was also one of the items up for auction. All totaled, over $142,000 was raised.
