HOWARD STERN turned up on CNBC this morning (1/3), as he joined reporter BERTHA COOMBS for a live interview from the NASDAQ exchange. Responding to a question about the future stock price of SIRIUS, STERN predicted that SIRIUS shares would finish '06 in the $10-$15 range, but tempered his prediction by saying, "Look at who you're asking. Look at my face. Why would anyone want to know what I think about stocks?"
STERN also took the promotional opportunity to tout SIRIUS, saying that listeners would "never go back to FM radio again" after experiencing the satacaster's content and music channels. He also met the "brand expectation" of the NASDAQ audience by saying to COOMBS, "Now give me a kiss."

STERN was then joined by SIRIUS CEO MEL KARMAZIN and other SIRIUS execs to sound the opening buzzer at NASDAQ. Concurrently, STERN's former boss SUMNER REDSTONE rang the opening bell at the NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE as the first day of trading of shares of the newly split VIACOM-CBS commenced.
Meanwhile, across town at the studios of CBS Talk/Rock WXRK (soon to be WFNY, 92.3 FREE-FM), STERN's replacement, DAVID LEE ROTH, debuted with his uncle MANNY ROTH serving as in-studio guest. The elder ROTH was the subject of a lengthy interview, complete with stories of the old days of show biz and NEW YORK CITY.
