WARNER WOLF has exited ESPN Sports WEPN-A (1050 ESPN)/NEW YORK to concentrate on providing sports reports for crosstown CITADEL Talk WABC-A's syndicated DON IMUS morning show. NEWSDAY's NEIL BEST reports that WOLF was given the choice by 1050 ESPN PD AARON SPIELBERG of staying with the station or doing IMUS' shown but not both.
SPIELBERG told BEST that the choice was precipitated by IMUS' ripping of ESPN morning hosts MIKE GREENBERG and MIKE GOLIC. "It's difficult when someone calls one of my hosts a --," said SPIELBERG to BEST. "I don't want to be involved with that... I understand how IMUS does his show and I appreciate that, but we don't subscribe to that. Certain people are going to be offended by it, and WARNER is a representative of ESPN."
