BMI/NASHVILLE is sponsoring the First Annual AMELIA ISLAND SONGWRITER FESTIVAL that takes place AUGUST 27th-31st in FERNANDINA BEACH, FL. The event features workshops, showcasing, and networking opportunities for aspiring songwriters of all levels.
Some of NASHVILLE's established songwriters, such as BOBBY PINSON (who wrote SUGARLAND's "Want To" and and his own "Don't Ask Me How I Know"), JON RANDALL ("Whiskey Lullabye" from BRAD PAISLEY & ALISON KRAUSS) and STEPHONY SMITH (TIM McGRAW & FAITH HILL's "It's Your Love" and KENNY CHESNEY's "Big Star") are just a few writers that will be attending the event, in addition to fresh faces like singer/songwriters SHELLY FAIRCHILD, THE COPPOLAS and JESSI ALEXANDER.
Several venues at AMELIA ISLAND will host nightly entertainment, and numerous songwriting contests will be staged with cash awards for first, second and third place winners. The "GRAND EVENT" during the final day of the festival will feature the winners of each individually-held contest competing for "Song Of The Year" and "Songwriter Of The Year" bragging rights, along with respective $1,000 prizes.
