Former WESTWOOD ONE Exec. VP/Programming CHARLIE COOK is joining CUMULUS MEDIA in the newly-created post of Sr. Programmer. For the new position, COOK will relocate from SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA to ATLANTA.
Of the hiring, CUMULUS MEDIA EVP JOHN DICKEY stated, "CHARLIE is one of the most respected programmers in AMERICA. He brings to CUMULUS a wealth of knowledge in building and growing brands as well as a thorough understanding of the syndication business which will prove invaluable as CUMULUS grows its fledgling syndication unit."
"This is a great opportunity for me to join the fastest growing media company focused on radio. I have known JOHN and LEW (DICKEY) for over 20 years and have worked along side them on projects and for their stations as a consultant. I couldn’t be happier to join CUMULUS and help the company reach its goals," said COOK.
Prior to overseeing programming for WESTWOOD ONE, COOK spent 12 years partnered with MIKE McVAY to establish and grow consultancy McVAY MEDIA. In addition to his consulting experience, COOK has programmed such stations as WHN/NEW YORK, KHJ and KLAC/LOS ANGELES, and WGBS/MIAMI. He serves on the board of directors of the COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTERS and the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC.
