SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO has announced that its 2005 year-end subscriber count ended up at 3,316,560 and claimed leadership in adding subs in fourth quarter.
“SIRIUS continues to be the fastest growing provider in the category. We are experiencing a strong start to the new-year and we expect to end 2006 with over 6 million subscribers. We also look forward to the rollout of SIRIUS in an increasing number of automobiles during the year," CEO MEL KARMAZIN said in a statement.
SIRIUS is also issuing 34,375,000 shares of common stock on JANUARY 9 to HOWARD STERN and agent DON BUCHWALD as part of STERN's deal with the company, which included a bonus of stock if subscriber targets were reached.
At the CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW, the company also announced new receivers by RCA and GE, including a bookshelf audio system and home theater system.
