As of DECEMBER 29th CLEAR CHANNEL/FRESNO dropped the Smooth Jazz format on KEZL 96.7 and began simulcasting AC sister KALZ 102.7 on both frequencies. Now, according to reports from the FRESNO BEE, CLEAR CHANNEL will stop the AC simulcast on the 102.7 frequency and will launch a new Country station under the moniker THE NEW CAT COUNTRY 102.7. An application has already been filed to change the call letters.
Veteran programmer, CHUCK GEIGER, most recently of KZSN/WICHITA, has been tapped for PD/afternoon duties. CLEAR CHANNEL/FRESNO GM JEFF NEGRETE told the FRESNO BEE the station will be, "an entertaining Country station that will be filled with good times and favorite Country music." NEGRETE also stated an air staff will be in place "sooner than later." Prior to KZSN, GEIGER programmed CITADEL Country WCTO/ALLENTOWN.
