FCC 9/25 Meeting Agenda Packed With Radio Items

The FCC puts several radio issues on the agenda for its SEPTEMBER 25th open meeting, clearing the decks of some long-delayed decisions. Included on the opening draft of the agenda are review of the sale of RADIO DISNEY affiliate KDIS-F/LITTLE ROCK to DISNEY; review of a staff decision reallotting CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Hits WLZT (93.3 LITE FM)/CHILLICOTHE, OH to ASHVILLE, OH (in the COLUMBUS market); review of the upgrade of JIM DANDY BROADCASTING Hot AC KUYY (Y 100.1) (formerly KDWD-F)/EMMETSBURG, IA from class A to class C3; and KIDD COMMUNICATIONS' appeal of a staff decision finding a dispositive 307(b) preference for PAMPLIN BROADCASTING for a new AM Station in JACKSONVILLE, OR.
The Commission is also considering appeals of 13 dismissals of noncommercial share-time applications; an appeal of the move of SALEM Religion KKHT (THE WORD, formerly UNIVISION's KOBT) from WINNIE to LUMBERTON, TX; an appeal of an FM allocation shuffle in CARO and CASS CITY, MI; review of an FM translator grant in MANAHAWKIN, NJ; review of the move of SAGA Adult Hits WABZ (ABE FM)/LINCOLN, IL to SHERMAN, IL; an appeal of the grant of the sale of EAGLE BROADCASTING's four-station ITHACA, NY to SAGA; the move of CUMULUS AC WNCV (COAST 93.3)/EVERGREEN, AL to SHALIMAR, FL (FT. WALTON BEACH); and ROYCE INTERNATIONAL's appeal of a 307(b) dispositive preference for KM COMMUNICATIONS' application for a new AM at ELK GROVE, CA.
The Commission will also consider its Report and Order allowing FM translators to rebroadcast AM stations, and will consider a Second Report and Order on streamlining directional AM station licensing.
