EMMIS AAA WRXP/NEW YORK announced TODAY (9/9) that morning show host, MATT PINFIELD is actually alive and well, despite Internet rumors saying otherwise. PINFIELD started getting dozens of e-mails from fans and the phone lines at 101.9 RXP were flooded with phone calls yesterday from worried listeners, wondering if, after years of service to the music community, did it end with a bullet from a 'grime' scene during gunfire in AFGHANISTAN while shooting footage for a TV special?
Here is an excerpt from the WIKIPEDIA posting that was taken down within 24 hours: "He died on SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2008 just outside KABUL in AFGHANISTAN. PINFIELD was shooting footage for a VH1 special on the AFGHAN grime scene when a gunfight broke out. A stray bullet struck PINFIELD in the neck. He was placed on a mule and raced to a nearby hospital, but several hours later was pronounced dead at 23:09 local time."
PINFIELD is not only alive and well, in fact, he is ready to act as the ROCK TOUR GUIDE TODAY aboard a double-decker bus with THE KOOKS, and interview lthe egendary AC/DC, as well as NOEL GALLAGHER from OASIS later this week.
PINFIELD's response to all this craziness, "I want to say thank you to all the concerned RXP listeners, but I have to say that news of my death was extremely exaggerated and premature."
WRXP PD/morning co-host LESLIE FRAM noted, "At least he was in AFGHANISTAN fighting for his country."
