George Jones To Receive 2008 Kennedy Center Honor

Country legend GEORGE JONES has been chosen to receive a 2008 KENNEDY CENTER HONOR. Past recipients include JOHNNY CASH, DOLLY PARTON, LORETTA LYNN, ROY ACUFF and WILLIE NELSON. 

The HONORS gala, which began in 1978, "is the most important annual fundraising event, supporting its performing arts, education and outreach programs. In addition to the gala performance, the HONOREES are treated to a WHITE HOUSE reception and banquet."

GEORGE recently released his album "Burn Your Playhouse Down: The Unreleased Duets," in AUGUST. The collection includes unreleased collaborations ranging from the mid-1970s with his ex-wife, the late TAMMY WYNETTE, to 2007 with his daughter GEORGETTE.
