ALL ACCESS sends condolences to the family and friends of former ASCAP/NASHVILLE executive MERLIN LITTLEFIELD, who passed away of pancreatic cancer last night (9/9) at ALIVE HOSPICE in NASHVILLE. He was 65.

LITTLEFIELD began his career in radio promotion in DALLAS and also worked for RCA RECORDS/DALLAS where he traveled with artists like ELVIS PRESLEY and HENRY MANCINI. He spent 19 years with ASCAP/NASHVILLE and signed artists like REBA McENTIRE, GEORGE STRAIT, LYLE LOVETT and GARY BURR to the organization. 

He also served on the boards of the CMA (COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION), the ACM (ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC) and the RECORDING ACADEMY, as well as the board for the NASHVILLE ZOO.

In 1999, LITTLEFIELD joined the state of TENNESEE's DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS and then accepted a position as Director of Planning and Development for the state's Division of Mental Retardation Services. He launched the program "For The Heart Of TENNESSEE," which established a system that allows items made by TENNESSEANS with mental retardation to be sold at state parks and other retail locations. 

Visitation will be held FRIDAY (9/12) from 5-8p (CT) at WOODLAWN ROESCH-PATTON FUNERAL HOME’s DIGNITY HALL, 660 Thompson Lane in NASHVILLE. The funeral will be held at 11a (CT) on SATURDAY (9/13) at CHRIST CHURCH, 15354 Old Hickory Blvd. in NASHVILLE. Another visitation will be held at the church SATURDAY from 9-11a (CT), and MERLIN will be buried in his home state of TEXAS.
