The NEW YORK ISLANDERS have inked a deal with BARNSTABLE BROADCASTING's LONG ISLAND RADIO GROUP for the upcoming NHL season, with night games airing on AC WMJC/SMITHTOWN, NY and day games airing on Adult Standards WHLI-A/HEMPSTEAD. With the stations' limited reach outside of LONG ISLAND, fans in other areas are being instructed to listen to games via XM SATELLITE RADIO's NHL coverage or over the Internet. STEVE MEARS and CHRIS KING continue to call the action. The team was previously heard on BLOOMBERG News WBBR-A/NEW YORK.
"The LONG ISLAND RADIO GROUP and their lineup of stations including; KJOY 98.3FM (AC WKJY/GARDEN CITY), B-103 (Oldies WBZO/BAY SHORE), WRCN 103.9FM (Classic Rock WRCN/RIVERHEAD), LOVE 96.1FM (AC WLVG/CENTER MORICHES), WMJC 94.3FM and WHLI 1100AM, provides the team and our sponsors with a broad LONG ISLAND-based promotional partnership that will deliver ISLANDERS games, entertainment and daily news to our fans," said ISLANDERS President CHRIS DEY. "Through the ISLANDERS RADIO NETWORK, we are able to service our worldwide fan base and leverage the ISLANDER brand from a local, regional, national and international perspective."
"We’re proud to be partners with a LONG ISLAND icon like the NEW YORK ISLANDERS and the history and tradition they represent," said LONG ISLAND RADIO GROUP President DAVE WIDMER. "It’s exciting to be part of the team and we’re looking forward to working with the entire NEW YORK ISLANDERS organization – on the ice, and off the ice throughout the LONG ISLAND community."
