NRG MEDIA Urban KOPW (POWER 106.9)/OMAHA is offering listeners its own version of an "economic stimulus package," in the form of checks of either $106.90 and $1,069. The campaign, launching TODAY (9/15), features on-air spots that direct listeners to a website called www.omahastimuluschecks.com for more information.
According to the station, some area residents contacted the OMAHA Mayor’s Office about this. Mayor MIKE FAHEY initially refuted the stimulus campaign and immediately sent out a press release stating "OMAHA Police Looking Into Bogus Website."
"We wanted to create excitement and give money reflective of our station frequency to help boost the economy," PD BIZZY B stated We are certainly accomplishing that, plus getting some excitement we never anticipated. The news of the economic stimulus package aired on media throughout the OMAHA market -- including on competitor radio stations. I can guarantee that the stations we compete with had no idea they were talking about POWER 106.9 the entire time. Even the dollar amount of $106.90 or $1,069 didn’t seem to give our plans away!"
