KSBJ EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION Christian AC KSBJ/HOUSTON survived HURRICANE IKE with a small crew on the air throughout the storm. Over a dozen worked around the clock to make sure that information would reach those facing the worst of the storm. The station worked off generator power during some of the storm. The power to the station was restored SUNDAY (9/14).
KSBJ reports that the lines at the FEMA sites for ice, water and MREs are hours long. Lines at gas stations are backed up onto freeways. "A listener called the 'MORNING SHOW WITH MIKE AND SUSAN' to say she'd been sitting at the same gas station for nearly 21 hours in hopes that they would get a shipment of gas and power so she could fill up her tank to get back home. But for now, there's no word when the shipment will come or if they will restore the power to pump it," said morning co-host SUSAN O'DONNELL.
"We've heard from stations from LONDON and QUITO to TAMPA BAY and CALIFORNIA letting us know they are praying for us and our area. We are grateful for the prayers and for the support. Right now we are doing what we can to help by being the continued voice of hope during this recovery time. Recovery will be a long effort here, but we know that God has done a lot to keep us safe, to make this storm less damaging that it was forecast to be. We are stretched, but we are grateful and blessed," she said.
