ALL ACCESS sends prayers and condolences to the family of TOM "T.Q." QUARLES, former Production Director for CLEAR CHANNEL AUSTIN's Country sisters KASE and KVET, who passed away last WEDNESDAY (9/10). QUARLES had been suffering from esophageal cancer and died with his wife and three beloved dogs by his side. He was 55.
His broadcasting career began in 1971, with stops at KHFI 98.3, KNOW-AM, KRMH-FM 'GOOD KARMA' and KLBJ-FM in AUSTIN and KILO-FM in COLORADO SPRINGS. He also served as Director of Creative Services for the CLEAR CHANNEL AUSTIN cluster, which includes THE ZONE 1300 AM, THE RIVER 102.3 FM, KISS-FM and JAMMIN' 105.9. According to KASE MD/afternooner BOB PICKETT, QUARLES was the first on-air personality to play THE POLICE in AMERICA.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (9/17) at 2:30p (CT) at WEED-CORLEY-FISH FUNERAL HOME in AUSTIN. A reception will follow at the TAVERN RESTAURANT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in TOM's name to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, HOSPICE AUSTIN and CARING BRIDGE. Click here for more info.
