The VOICE OF AMERICA ended its radio broadcasts in Hindi, Bosnian, Serbian, and Macedonian on TUESDAY (9/30), but will continue to serve listeners in those languages through television and the Internet. The VOA is also discontinuing its weekly television program in Russian, following the end of Russian radio broadcasts in JULY in response to the Russian government's crackdown on independent media and freedom of speech.
"We owe great thanks to the VOA radio journalists who have broadcast to these countries over the years," said VOA Director DANFORTH AUSTIN.
