Adult Standards WOAM-A (UNFORGETTABLE 1350) and Oldies WPMJ (94.3, PEORIA'S TRUE OLDIES CHANNEL)/PEORIA will be taken dark by owner KELLY COMMUNICATIONS, INC. after today's broadcasting day, according to the PEORIA JOURNAL STAR.
The paper reports that the stations are going dark due to bankruptcy, with WOAM morning co-host ROGER MONROE saying that "We’re devastated. We knew the station wasn’t setting records, but we have an excellent audience." MONROE said that the stations have been in financial difficulty and "up for sale for years. We thought (owner BOB KELLY) was announcing a buyer" when the staff was instead informed of the closing.
