CATHOLIC BISHOP OF NORTHERN ALASKA Religion KNOM-A-F/NOME, AK will receive its 16th GABRIEL AWARD as Radio Station of the Year at the 43rd annual ceremony on OCTOBER 25th in LOS ANGELES. The awards honor film, TV, and radio shows that "nourish and uplift the human spirit." CBS NEWS' BOB SCHIEFFER will be honored with the 2008 GABRIEL Personal Achievement Award at the ceremony, which will be hosted by CATHOLIC ACADEMY FOR COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONALS Pres. FRANK MOROCK and CBS independent KCAL-TV/LOS ANGELES news anchor SYLVIA LOPEZ.
In other categories, the CBC has been selected the winner in two radio categories plus a Certificate of Merit. Also winning radio GABRIELS are XM SATELLITE RADIO's BOB EDWARDS SHOW, WCPN/CLEVELAND; WORLD VISION REPORT; WXPN/PHILADELPHIA; and KENNEDY/BROWNRIGG GROUP.
