CBS News KNX-A and KFWB-A/LOS ANGELES laid off up to 20 staffers and closed its ORANGE COUNTY and LONG BEACH news bureaus in a cost-cutting move disclosed to staffers FRIDAY.
The ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER's GARY LYCAN lists the departed staffers as including KFWB anchors LARRY CARROLL and JOHN DARIN, bureau reporters LORI KELMAN, JENNIFER BAUMAN and SHARON KATCHEN, and reporters LONNIE LARDNER, DIRK MORGAN, CHRIS SEDENS, MICHAEL FOREST and CHRISTINE VILLACORTE, plus KNX production/voiceover specialist GERRY MULVANEY. LARADIO.COM's DON BARRETT adds KNX's MICHAEL LINDER, LAURA ORNEST and VICKI COX and KFWB's PETER BERGMAN, DAVE ADACARY, KIMBERLY PLUMMER and FRED PEABODY to the list.
