BUCKLEY Talk WDRC-A/HARTFORD host MARY JONES and Oldies WDRC-F afternoon host DOUG TAYLOR have exited the stations in a budget cut, reports the HARTFORD COURANT. JONES is being replaced by PREMIERE's syndicated GLENN BECK; TAYLOR is replaced by middayer LARRY WELLS, with FLOYD WRIGHT taking WELLS' old slot. In addition, morning show host BRAD DAVIS' personal assistant DONNA BANKS was let go, along with another assistant and five technical staffers (one full-time, four part-time).
"Due to the ongoing deteriorating advertising conditions in the HARTFORD market, a reduction in our CONNECTICUT staff had become necessary," said VP/GM ERIC FAHNOE. "The realignment was made with the goal of continuing to provide our listeners with the highest-quality programming possible while preparing for a protracted economic downturn."
