ASCAP Honors Songwriters At 46th Annual Country Music Awards

The 46th Annual ASCAP COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS were held last night (10/13) at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM in NASHVILLE, "honoring those who wrote the most performed Country songs of the past year."
REBA McENTIRE was presented with the ASCAP "Golden Note Award," which honors "songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones." BROOKS & DUNN, LeANN RIMES and KELLY CLARKSON paid tribute to REBA by performing a few of her hit songs.
GAC (GREAT AMERICAN COUNTRY) also received the ASCAP "Partners In Music Award" for their "contribution toward the promotion and support of songwriters, musicians and artists while expanding the reach of Country music."
Other Honorees Include
ASCAP Song Of The Year: "Good Directions," recorded by BILLY CURRINGTON and co-written by RACHEL THIBODEAU and LUKE BRYANASCAP Songwriter of the Year: DAVE BERG -- "Don't Make Me" (BLAKE SHELTON), "It's Good To Be Us" (BUCKY COVINGTON), "Moments," (EMERSON DRIVE), "These Are My People" (RODNEY ATKINS) and "What Kinda Gone" (CHRIS CAGLE).
ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year: ALAN JACKSON for "A Woman's Love" and "Small Town Southern Man."
ASCAP Publisher of the Year: EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING for "How Long," "Never Wanted Nothing More," "Small Town Southern Man," "Online," "Lost In This Moment," "Letter To Me," "Laughed Until We Cried," "The More I Drink," "Lucky Man," "All-American Girl," "Ticks" and "Stronger Woman."
ASCAP also announced the Top 5 most-performed songs of the year -- "Good Directions" (BILLY CURRINGTON), "Don't Blink" (KENNY CHESNEY), "Free & Easy (Down The Road I Go)" (DIERKS BENTLEY), "Lucky Man" (MONTGOMERY GENTRY) and "These Are My People" (RODNEY ATKINS).
