JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP Country KFDI/WICHITA is teaming up with the AMERICAN LEGION's "Troop Support Ride" to help gather donations for their "CHRISTMAS In A Box" project, organized by morning co-hosts BRIAN and KELLIE.
The ride will take place this SATURDAY (10/18) in DERBY, KS, and more than 1,000 motorcycles and military vehicles will take part. Participants are asked to donate items like CHRISTMAS decorations, toiletries, snacks, CDs and cards to go in care packages for troops overseas during the holidays.
KELLIE said, "We are so thrilled that the AMERICAN LEGION has joined our cause this year. What a sight it will be to see a thousand motorcycles with AMERICAN flags riding in support of the troops. With their help, we will be able to send boxes filled with lots of love from home. These men and women will know just how proud we are of them and that we are thinking of them.”
The ride is open to everyone and begins at 2p (CT) at the DERBY VFW, continuing on through HAYSVILLE and WICHITA before ending at the AMERICAN LEGION POST 256. An after party will be held at 3p (CT) with live music from local band THE SLEEPY TRUCKERS. Smoked BBQ will be provided by CARGILL and members of the US AIR FORCE FIGHTING JAYHAWKS 184th INTELLIGENCE WING will be on hand collecting more donations for "CHRISTMAS In A Box."
