AUSTRALIA's ABC RADIO NATIONAL is canceling some of the network's specialist shows effective JANUARY 26th, including weekly 8:30a shows "THE RELIGION REPORT," "THE MEDIA REPORT," and "THE SPORTS FACTOR," along with documentary series "RADIO EYE" and "STREET STORIES" and science interview show "IN CONVERSATION." The network will also cease production of "SHORT STORY," although reruns will continue to air. In the 8:30a slot, "THE HEALTH REPORT" will now air MONDAYS, with "THE LAW REPORT" on TUESDAYS, "REAR VISION" on WEDNESDAYS, "THE FUTURE REPORT" on THURSDAYS, and "MOVIETIME" airing FRIDAYS.
"Decisions to wind up programs are never easy as all of the network's shows are made with passion and care, and each have their devoted following," said RADIO NATIONAL's Dr. JANE CONNORS. "The move of resources and staff, and without job losses, into the development of new content offered in new ways, including online, means ABC RADIO NATIONAL can respond to its hugely successful digital growth and shift in audience trends, especially amongst younger audiences."
