Former BOSTON sportscaster BOB GAMERE was arrested on two counts of transporting and one count of possessing child pornography THURSDAY, reports the BOSTON GLOBE. He pleaded not guilty in U.S. DISTRICT COURT to the charges, which stemmed from GAMERE allegedly sending an undercover agent an e-mail with a pornographic video attached from an account with the screen name "GreatGamere."
Material was also allegedly found in his apartment during a raid last NOVEMBER. GAMERE is free on $100,000 bond and is under electronic monitoring with no Internet access and no contact with anyone under 18 other than supervised visits with his grandchildren.
GAMERE, best known in the BOSTON area as host of "CANDLEPINS FOR CASH" on the old WNAC-TV and as sports anchor at WLVI-TV, hosted shows on WMRE-A (now WWZN-A) and WRCA-A, and called HARVARD football on WMRE-A, WDLW-A (now WRCA-A) and WTAG-A/WORCESTER; he called NEW YORK YANKEES games on WPIX (TV)/NEW YORK in 1970.
