On SUNDAY (10/27), CLEAR CHANNEL Country KASE/AUSTIN, in partnership with SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE, hosted the first "Bras Across the Bridge," a human display of bras on Congress Ave. Bridge. In response to KASE 101’s call for participants, wearing pink and arriving with bras in hand, more than 120 participants joined in this unique display, in true "keep AUSTIN weird" fashion.
Starting at 11a (CT), breast cancer survivors, friends, and family created a line along Congress Ave. Bridge to form a human chain of bras, as an act of public awareness in tribute to all women and the fight against breast cancer. A press conference was held and hosted by KASE 101’s HEATHER WHITE, featuring a testimonial by NICKI, a 24-year old from AUSTIN who just recently began treatment. A moment of silence was observed in honor of those who lost their fight to breast cancer. Once the event concluded, KASE 101 hosted a free breakfast for all participants.
“Bras Across the Bridge,” was covered throughout SUNDAY on multiple news stations including: morning coverage on ABC-TV KVUE, evening coverage on CBS-TV KEYE 42 and TIME WARNER CABLE’s News 8.
