GOLD COAST RADIO, owner of Regional Mexican KMLA (LA M 103.7)/OXNARD-VENTURA, is suing competitor LAZER BROADCASTING and promoter UNIVERSO MUSICAL for interference with its customers and advertisers and with musical artists.
The VENTURA COUNTY STAR reports that GOLD COAST's suit, which went to trial WEDNESDAY, claims that LAZER, which countersued to stop KMLA from claiming to be the "Number One" Spanish-language station, has been using unfair and unlawful tactics to undercut its business. LAZER owns Romantica KLJR (CORAZON 96.7), Regional Mexican KXLM (RADIO LAZER 102.9), and Ranchero KOXR-A (LA MEXICANA) in the market.
