A travel shopping show airing on WINGS COMMUNICATIONS brokered Talk WELE-A/DAYTONA BEACH is being investigated by ORMOND BEACH police after complaints that the show has sold travel package coupons but did not deliver the vacations. The station announced that the show, the "PREMIER TRAVEL SHOW," hosted by station President/Owner DOUG WILHITE, has been discontinued, and WILHITE told cable news channel CENTRAL FLORIDA NEWS 13 that he will try to refund every customer but funds are running low.
The DAYTONA BEACH NEWS-JOURNAL adds that the station's offices were shut last week and the answering machine carries a message saying "We will keep the radio side of the business open as long as we can.... If you have vacations or credits due you, we hope to be able to supply these at some time in the future. At this time we have no staff available to work with you, no income from which to give refunds. We will mail tickets as they come in."
