TODAY (11/7) marks the 60th anniversary of the first live radio broadcast of the TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH worship service in ASHLAND, OH, on WATG. According to the ASHLAND TIMES-GAZETTE, TRINITY was one of several ASHLAND area churches, which began live radio broadcasts on WATG in the FALL of 1948.
Eventually WATG became WNCO-A and the 60-minute broadcast became 90 minutes. Broadcasts can be heard now at 10:30a (ET), beginning with “Prelude,” a 15-minute Christian news and community interview program hosted by DAN CHANDLER. The worship service starts at 10:45a. Following the service is “Postlude,” a program of church announcements and music hosted by AL LAWRENCE or HANK STEVENS.
