BONNEVILLE's SEATTLE cluster has been hit by layoffs, with the BLATHERWATCH blog saying that five full-timers and at least two part-timers were let go.
The blog reports that Talk KIRO-A-F reporters JIM VALLEY and JEFF POJULA, traffic reporter/weekend morning anchor ERIC KIRCHNER, and engineer JIM THARP were among the employees laid off. KIRO has also dropped the 6p "BIG STORY @6" news hour, expanding the afternoon RON AND DON show to 3-7p.
VALLEY, who has won one national and five regional EDWARD R. MURROW Awards for his work, is now available for his next opportunity; besides his on-air work, VALLEY supplied the station's MYNORTHWEST.COM site with a blog about technology, "GETTING WIRED." Reach him at jim.valley@gmail.com.
