The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOC. (CMA) has awarded the 2008 CMA MEDIA ACHIEVEMENT AWARD to "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" producer MONICA ESCOBEDO. The award honors those with outstanding achievements in media as related to Country music. ESCOBEDO received her honor from BILLY RAY CYRUS during the live "GMA" broadcast yesterday(11/12) in downtown NASHVILLE.
In other CMA news, BELMONT UNIV./NASHVILLE student BENJAMIN KANN has received the 2008 CMA CLOSE UP AWARD OF MERIT. The award is given to a student that demonstrates creativity, dedication and promise in covering the CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL. KANN received his award at the backstage press conference during last night's (11/12) CMA AWARDS.
AUSTRALIAN producer MARK MOFFATT was given the JO WALKER-MEADOR INTERNATIONAL AWARD during the CMA's INTERNATIONAL MEDIA RECEPTION at the HILTON HOTEL in Downtown NASHVILLE on MONDAY (11/10). The award "recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual or company in advocating and supporting Country Music’s marketing development in territories outside the UNITED STATES."
MOFFATT worked with CAPITOL/NASHVILLE artist KEITH URBAN up until 2000, during his early years as a solo artist after performing with former band THE RANCH. Since 2004 MOFFATT has also been the Musical Director for the CMA's "Global Artist Party" and global showcase events.
