President-elect OBAMA has named his transition team for the FCC, tapping UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN law professor SUSAN CRAWFORD and UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA WHARTON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS assistant professor and former FCC counsel KEN WERBACH to head the group. The two appointees will be part of OBAMA's Science, Tech, Space and Arts Team, headed by former NCTA and CTIA President TOM WHEELER; the team will report to a higher review panel including former FCC International Bureau director DON GIPS.
Three former FCC commissioners are on other transition panels for OBAMA but may not review FCC issues due to conflict-of-interest policies, including former Chairman REED HUNDT on economic and trade issues, SUSAN NESS on the FTC, and HENRY RIVERA on the NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION team.
