MINNESOTA TWINS voice JOHN GORDON has inked a new two-year deal to continue calling the team's games. GORDON, who will work a slightly reduced schedule under the new pact that will give him about 12 games off each season, began his long run with the TWINS in 1987 after stints with the NEW YORK YANKEES and BALTIMORE ORIOLES.
"John has certainly earned his place in TWINS lore and his name and voice I think is synonymous with TWINS baseball in the region," said TWINS President DAVE ST. PETER. "We had a lot of discussions with him on where he was at in his career and it was clear that he had a desire to come back and be part of Twins baseball.
"Obviously, we were very supportive of that. I think he earned the right to be behind the microphone for the closing of the METRODOME era, but maybe more importantly, the opening of the TARGET FIELD era. I know it was important to JOHN and important to the ballclub."
TWINS games air on a network headed by HUBBARD Talk KSTP-A/ST. PAUL-MINNEAPOLIS.
