Sports WJAB-A-F (THE BIG JAB)/PORTLAND, ME morning co-host FRANK FIXARIS died FRIDAY in a fire that broke out in his FALMOUTH, ME home.
FIXARIS, 71, was found dead on his couch; his wife, BARBARA, escaped after calling for help. Early speculation on the cause of the fire involved FIXARIS' possibly falling alseep while smoking. FIXARIS was well known in the market as WGME-TV's Sports Anchor for 25 years until exiting in 1992 and later joining WJAB as co-host with DAVE SCHUMACHER.
