Shocker! CLEAR CHANNEL RVPP TODD SHANNON announced he is leaving CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO after 14 years, effective TODAY (11/26).
He has programmed legendary stations WIOQ (Q102)/PHILADELPHIA, KHKS (KISS FM)/DALLAS, WNCI/COLUMBUS and launched KHTS (CHANNEL 933)/SAN DIEGO. TODD was most recently an RVPP, overseeing 60 stations in 10 markets, and responsible for the day-to-day programming at Top 40 WFKS/JACKSONVILLE.
SHANNON said, "I am truly thankful to have worked with some of the best managers and programmers in the business and wish them continued success. I am very proud of what the KISS/JACKSONVILLE team has accomplished in a very short amount of time, in my hometown. Prior to arriving in mid-2006, KISS had defeated WAPE two times in six years. KISS has now beaten them seven out of nine books in Persons 18-34. Now it's time to venture out and chart a new career path for 2009 and I couldn't be more excited."
Speaking to ALL ACCESS, SHANNON indicated he'd be making an announcement on his future early in 2009. Reach out to Todd at toddshannon1@aol.com, or at (904) 655-2055.
With SHANNON's exit from WFKS, that means that the PD post at both JACKSONVILLE Top 40s are now wide open, with J.R. AMMONS leaving for the PD post at WSTR (STAR 94)/ATLANTA, (NET NEWS 11/20). And, with JACKSONVILLE being TODD's hometown ... well, let's not forget the TRIBUNE factor, either.
In any event, let the speculation and fingerpointing begin.
