UPDATE: FIRST BROADCASTING '80s KXCL (FLASH 92.1)/SACRAMENTO afternooner KEITH BROOKS will begin his own "HUNGER STRIKE" during his airshift this afternoon (1/17) in protest of his contract with the station. BROOKS is in a contract dispute with the station. He wants to be released from his contract and have the opportunity to accept a job elsewhere.
BROOKS tells ALL ACCESS, "FIRST BROADCASTING has bullied and threatened my family for over a year now. I just want the opportunity to find work elsewhere. Today I have officially started my HUNGER STRIKE and will be taking it to the air. I will go on a HUNGER STRIKE until FIRST BROADCASTING apologizes to my family and admits the original contract was invalid, and allows me out with no stipulations. If they do not, then the HUNGER STRIKE will continue and each day I will let the media know more about what FIRST BROADCASTING has been and is up to, including trying desperately to sell 92.1.
"I also have audio tape of one of their corporate guys threatening me and my family if I don't sign an amended contract. I am also asking my listeners to send non-perishable food items to the station and every FRIDAY I will take all food donations to people who are truly starving here in SACRAMENTO via the SACRAMENTO FOOD BANK."
