Longtime CORUS Talk CHQR-A and Country CKRY (COUNTRY 105)/CALGARY news anchor VERN KOOP is retiring TODAY (12/11) after 33 years at the same station and time slots. KOOP will call it a career after the 11a MT newscast, reports the CALGARY HERALD. The last show coincides with the station's CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION pledge drive.

"That will help because I won't have much time to think about it," KOOP told the HERALD, referencing the pledge drive event. "We'll be busy at the WESTIN HOTEL. But I think MONDAY morning is going to be a little strange."
