NRG MEDIA is shuffling formats at its OMAHA AM stations, moving Regional Mexican KYDZ-A (LA PRECIOSA) from 1180 AM to 1020 AM, the frequency of sister RADIO DISNEY affiliate KOIL-A. The KOIL calls will move to 1180 AM, which will flip to Talk. The changes will take place on JANUARY 1.
LA PRECIOSA gets a 50,000 watt daytime signal and 1,400 watt night signal in the move. Meanwhile, the new KOIL will feature a lineup of conservative hosts like SALEM's BILL BENNETT, block local programming, and DIAL GLOBAL's CLARK HOWARD plus sports including OMAHA ROYALS minor league baseball and CREIGHTON women's basketball and some baseball games bumped from sister Sports KOZN-A (1620 THE ZONE).
AM OM NEIL NELKIN said, "We want 1180AM KOIL to be completely dedicated to the local community providing compelling talk and information, but also serve as a powerful outlet for sports assets such as the ROYALS... we hope 1180AM KOIL can serve as an outlet for Title 9 sports as well as we are confident there is an enormous market for high school sports coverage in the OMAHA area."
On the move of LA PRECIOSA, NELKIN said, "This tremendous radio station now has a blowtorch of a signal to penetrate well beyond OMAHA and LINCOLN. LA PRECIOSA will now be heard in GRAND ISLAND, KEARNEY and even SIOUX CITY, IA as a result of this move."
LA PRECIOSA personality and community leader JOSE RAMON said, "we can now provide a positive influence and impact well into Eastern NEBRASKA and beyond to serve our loyal Hispanic community. This is great news for our current audience and will bring us many new Hispanic listeners."
