CBS RADIO has named VP of News Programming and News WINS-A/NEW YORK PD/Executive Editor MARK MASON as VP of Digital Media for the company's NEW YORK cluster, including WINS, News WCBS-A, Rock WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK), Sports WFAN-A, Oldies WCBS-F, and AC WWFS (FRESH 102.7).
MASON, who will manage the stations' online offerings and develop programming and sales strategies for the websites, assumes the new position on JANUARY 5. He will continue to advise sister Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH, a duty he recently added. News Director BEN MEVORACH will take over day-to-day programming duties at WINS, with sister News KYW-A/PHILADELPHIA PD STEVE BUTLER assuming MASON's position as VP of News Programming for CBS RADIO.
"I am very happy to have MARK at the helm of our digital initiatives - all of our efforts in this space will benefit greatly from his programming expertise," said SVP/Market Manager DON BOULOUKOS. "Having led the most successful all-news station in the country, MARK has an exceptional understanding of how to deliver relevant information in a concise and timely manner. And he, more than anyone I’ve worked with, has been able to translate that skill online to the benefit of millions of listeners."
"I’ve worked in the radio industry for quite some time but never have I seen such a renaissance to lead the medium to new heights," said MASON. "From the day we entered the digital space, I’ve been amazed to see such a loyal following not only from our over-the-air listeners, but a whole new generation of listeners – young and old – from across the country.
"I feel lucky to be able to work exclusively on this rapidly growing frontier at this point in my career and anxiously await the next big thing we can offer our audiences."
