WESTPORT COMMUNICATIONS is selling WNBP-A 1450 to PORT BROADCASTING, headed by two NEW ENGLAND radio vets, CARL STRUBE and PETE FALCONI.
WESTPORT Pres. TODD TANGER said, "We are very happy to have found new owners for WNBP that will continue the station’s great tradition of local radio. We are big believers in the power of local radio for a community as evident by our other radio station; North Shore 104.9 FM. Moving the WNBP studios and offices back into NEWBURYPORT will be great for that whole geography. We wish CARL, PETER, and ROBERT (COUTURE, a partner in PORT BROADCASTING) the best of luck."
"We’re eager to become part of the fabric of the community," said STRUBE, "and super-serve the greater NEWBURYPORT area with local programming and information." "WNBP has been promoted as 'the greatest community station in the nation,'" added FALCONI, "and we plan to continue that tradition as the hometown media outlet for NEWBURYPORT and surrounding towns. We’ll have a real presence in the marketplace."
