As the DENVER BRONCOS prepare to host the AFC Championship Game, ticket scammers have been busy ripping off rabid BRONCO fans, including ENTERCOM Hot AC KALC (ALICE 105.9)/DENVER morning show producer RICH STEVENS, whose ticket travails earned him a ton of local media coverage.
STEVENS, who bid $600 for five tickets on eBAY, said, "I got the confirmation email, which looked like any other eBay confirmation email, telling me that I won the five tickets and here's how I need to pay." Following the instructions, he wired the money via WESTERN UNION, but the auction turned out to be a scam. "I guess I got the Broncos fever and wasn't thinking like a normal person," said STEVENS, who is out $600, and has no tickets.
I guess I got the Broncos fever and wasn't thinking like a normal person.
STEVENS talked about the rip-off on air, which precipitated a deluge of phone calls from listeners who had had similar problems. "One girl said she sent $1,200 to someone and never got her eight tickets," said STEVENS.
The upside: The ALICE morning show got way more than $600 in media coverage. Check out some of it by clicking here and here.
