FAIRFIELD BROADCASTING is selling its KALAMAZOO cluster of four stations- AC WQLR (Q-106.5), Talk WKLZ-A, Sports WQSN-A, and Talk WKZO-A- to MIDWEST COMMUNUICATIONS, according to the KALAMAZOO GAZETTE. The deal is not yet in the FCC database but the price is $13.25 million.
FAIRFIELD's BILL WERTZ told the paper "we are the last truly locally owned day-operated media in KALAMAZOO. That officially will end, but- and it's a huge but- MIDWEST is here and has been here for several years." MIDWEST owns Classic Hits WFAT and Urban AC WNWN-A (THE TOUCH) in the market and Country WNWN-F (WIN 98.5) in adjacent COLDWATER-BATTLE CREEK; WERTZ and co-owner STEVE TRIVERS will consult the cluster for five years.
