Former Talk BBC RADIO 5 LIVE Controller BOB SHENNAN is returning to the BBC to take over as Controller as AC RADIO 2 and AAA digital station 6 MUSIC in FEBRUARY, filling the seat left vacant when LESLEY DOUGLAS resigned in the wake of "SACHSGATE."
SHENNAN programmed 5 LIVE in 2000-2008 before joining CHANNEL 4's radio project last APRIL; he left CHANNEL 4 in OCTOBER when the company announced that it would close its radio division. He will report to Director of Audio and Music TIM DAVIE.
"RADIO 2 is the cornerstone of UK radio. 6 MUSIC is at the forefront of digital radio. It is a privilege to be asked to lead the extraordinary creative forces of both stations," said SHENNAN.
DAVIE added, "BOB's energy, enthusiasm and passion for RADIO 2 will ensure that the station remains creative and vibrant, and continues to offer unique programmes to the widest possible audience."
