Don Sutton Rejoins Braves For Radio Duties

The ATLANTA BRAVES have made it official and are bringing Hall of Fame pitcher and former BRAVES TV broadcaster DON SUTTON back as a member of the team's radio crew. SUTTON was released from his contract with the WASHINGTON NATIONALS, where he was part of the team's TV crew on MASN for the last two seasons, to rejoin the BRAVES as new play-by-play voice JIM POWELL's partner on the radio side. 

POWELL and SUTTON will take over from the retired PETE VAN WIEREN; VAN WIEREN's longtime broadcast partner SKIP CARAY passed away last season. The BRAVES air on a network headed by CLEAR CHANNEL Country WUBL (THE BULL) and Talk WGST-A/ATLANTA.

"We are truly happy to have DON back in our broadcasting booth," said BRAVES Exec. Dir./Sales and Marketing DEREK SCHILLER. "We think, together with Jim, they can continue the great broadcasting tradition here at the BRAVES."

"I have always loved the BRAVES, the city of ATLANTA and the fans," said SUTTON. "It feels like returning home for me and my family. Radio is such a big part of the BRAVES history that I approach this with great respect and admiration. Every time I sit behind the microphone, I will be reminded of how much I will always owe ERNIE (JOHNSON SR., former BRAVES announcer and pitcher), SKIP and PETE."

Back in WASHINGTON, SUTTON is being replaced on the NATS TV games by former CINCINNATI REDS reliever and ESPN and FOX SPORTS commentator ROB DIBBLE, whose radio experience includes stints as DAN PATRICK's sidekick at ESPN RADIO and at XM SATELLITE RADIO's "THE SHOW" with KEVIN KENNEDY and on FOX SPORTS RADIO.
